Underground Hip-Hop favorite Mavi has dropped off some new music in the form of a five track long EP titled END OF THE EARTH. The project is the young artist’s first release since his critically acclaimed debut Let the Sun Talk–an album that was met with widespread critical acclaim and garnered praise from popular media outlets such as Pitchfork and NPR. This new project features Mavi’s signature blend of poetically dense rhymes paired with minimalist lo-fi production. Although only clocking in at a little over 14 minutes, Mavi still gives his listeners a lot to think about with END OF THE EARTH.

On the last track “TOWN CRIER”, Mavi comes through with some vibrant imagery painting a picture that lends itself to a pro-black narrative: “Slave trade, straight blade tucked under my tongue just in case/Stay away from mayonnaise colored lust, procreations sake/Post creation wait to turn to dust, ay”. He continues on with this dense lyricism later in the track, dropping some bars that frame the state of his current drug use: “I’m still a moonlighter/Those crushed Percocet’s make the room tighter/Close up brush with death make the zoom wider”. Mavi’s prose-like lyrics run throughout the entirety of the project and make for quite an interesting listen.

Aloisius handled the bulk of the production on END OF THE EARTH with Mavi penning all of the tracks. This is the first collaboration between the pair, as Aloisius did not make any appearances on Let the Sun Talk or any of Mavi’s singles. Considering it has been two years since his last project, fans of the up and coming rapper can revel in 14 minutes of the lo-fi prose style raps that he has become so well known for.
