Let’s check in with Damien Luci and get the basics down on his process, business acumen & new single “GET BUSY”.

What city are you from?

Born in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island NY, currently living in New Orleans, LA.

How did you get started?

I Started rapping because of a one-take contest when I was 15. Winner got $5000 so I wrote a song for it and my boy was supposed to shoot a video for it. Never shot the video so we never even entered in the contest but from that point on I just kept writing songs since it came so natural.

Name your biggest influence…

Couple of my biggest influences musically is Eminem, Slipknot, Hollywood Undead, Odd Future, n Eazy E.

If you can, put your style in words…

I think my style falls under the Trap/Hardcore Hip-Hop genre, “Alternative Trap” perhaps.

Describe your “Come-Up” so far…

I’ve been releasing music almost 5 years now, I’ve collabed with big names in the underground such as 83Hades, Zotiyac, ONI INC, PIRI, and Okaminokami. My biggest song currently is on spotify at almost 2.3million plays w/ PIRI.

What’s your biggest challenge as an artist?

Biggest challenge as an independent-artist is doing everything that isn’t exactly part of the art. Marketing, promotion, playlist pitches, booking shows, music videos, studio time, engineering; all of which I do myself.

Describe your songmaking process…

When it’s time to make a song I just feel myself click into that mindset. I’ll pull up a beat from my email or sometimes buy one from YT and I’ll take about 25-30 minutes to pen out what I need to. After that I just record and get to mixing. Rinse and repeat.

What legacy will you leave?

The legacy I hope to leave is raw energy. When I’m dust I still want people moshing and blowing out their car speakers with my music. And Ill make that as accessible as I can.
